What if meds like wellbutrin and/or SSRI fail? It will take tremendous energy for me to get up and go exercise but I'll do it if there's actually chance of something positive happening, though I'm doubtful at this point and it's been years since I even attempted such a thing.
Feel like exercise relieving depression is elaborate flame like everything else doctors say but I'd love to hear any positive experiences if you have them. I wonder if I'm so fucked up that misery is my only possible state of being.

Exercise of almost every kind outperforms SSRIs for treatment of depression by factors of 2-10. Interestingly enough, the highest performing form of exercise is dance. Deadlifts and running are just behind.
Workout hard and eat nothing but unprocessed meat, eggs, milk, cheese, rice, fresh fruit, and vegetables for 2 weeks. Take 50,000 ius of vitamin D and 60mg of zinc each day. You'll feel like a new man.

1. Vitamin D is fat soluble and therefore most excess is stored in fat and metabolized when the fat itself is metabolized.
2. Vitamin D isn't excreted in piss, but in shit.
3. I megadose this daily and it tangibly improves how I feel. Anecdotal, but there's very poor evidence that it's toxic at those levels (hypercalcemia is still quite far away), so the anecdote should be enough.
in short, you have no idea what you're talking about

get off the drugs
eat clean, workout like a maniac, quit the internet for a week or two, read some fucking books
in short: purge the toxins from your life and replace them with physical struggle

Excercise + cutting out GC poison chemicals + regular sleep schedule + regular sun exposure will cure 95% of depression.
The remaking 5% is cured of healthy family / friend relationships and community are added in.

Been slammed this year doing way more than I usually do - hurt my back 2 years ago so my gym attendance has been virtually nil.
Got back in the gym and started putting work in, switched to mainly carnivore diet and started getting more sleep. It all worked together - working out meant I was tired so I could get good sleep, eating mostly meat meant I was satiated so I wouldn't eat random shit at night.
Feeling way better now - I probably wasn't depressed but I was extremely stressed and exhausted - totally unsustainable.

Depression is forever and unending if you have any sort of respectable iq
The exercise is to distract you from it

Almost every depressed person doesn't walk enough, doesn't get enough sunlight, and sleeps like shit.
Stop drinking, protect your sleep, and get outside and walk at least 10k steps a day. Weightlifting is also good, but should be added once you have the rest under control.

I think the underlying presumption in the claim is that humans evolved for many millennia to thrive in a certain environment, and modernity is completely alien to that environment.
So all of the advice really boils down to -- get back to what youre evolved for, and you will feel better.
Keep in mind "better" is not "perfect", but it is better.
Your brain, like all your other organs, is built to pursue a task that is similar to hunting and warring. Youre meant to be absorbed in demanding physical activity to further your goal. Youre meant to wake up early and go to sleep early. Youre meant to enjoy whole foods and fast often. Youre meant to lift heavy shit, throw things, run and sprint and climb.
Youre probably also meant to take naps and be indolent sometimes, maybe in the heat of the afternoon.
Youre meant to get a lot of sun.
Basically, you need to artificially create primitive-man conditions and trick yourself.
I do think it works....
