On page 130 it says there will be no military draft for now, but they will follow the Swedish system for making military service be seen as competitive and prestigious.
Wasn't sure what that meant, so I did some digging and found this article that says Sweden has to turn away military recruits because they've made army service something which is reserved for the best and brightest. So those who are selected are seen as elites and get a great start on their professional lives.
Amazing that Sweden managed to pull that off- hope it works in Germany. |
