Some speculate that asscom came up with a number with excom based on department loading and they let the partners in the department decide.

I have had more than enough troubles from these arrogant, self serving racist bastards at this firm. I wouldn't care if I'm on the chopping block. The only thing I would be disappointed about is there are some really great people there I haven't had the chance to meet. (the legal staff tends to not fraternize with the staff, and since I am staff that appears very snobbish and stuck up to most of us but they may have their reasons).
Anyway, the last couple of years there was an abundance of new attorneys to come to the firm. So much that it was very puzzling as to why. Join that with the fact that the firm's administrators are basically whore puppets for certain partners. They don't have a clue as to how to administrate the place.
There is so much dirt on L&W enough to sink a battleship. They are doing the wrong thing and the wrong way by screwing over all these hard working people. They should start by getting rid of their dingbat adminstrators and managers who don't even know how to tie their own shoes. And they should fire the retarded partners who decided to go beyond budget and hire a million associates when they knew they weren't needed. I feel really bad for some.
All I know is if the ax does fall my way I have so much amunition against this place I can single handedly send all their clients running the second I go to the press with what I know. |

Massive layoffs are coming whether it be tomorrow (Friday) or early next week. Junior attorneys are going to be severely affected. 6 months severance will be the name of the game. The firm is aware of the negative press from its shitty actions and does not want to do any more harm. At 6 months this should allow most people enough time to get another job, assuming you don't spend your entire salary each pay cycle (which would make you a fool anyways).

I have no idea. None of the associates know anything at any seniority level.
Some speculate that asscom came up with a number with excom based on department loading and they let the partners in the department decide.
For unassigned associates the probably look at hours and the reviews that no one has gotten yet. Unclear how politics play at this level. Again its all speculation.
