Say for instance a lawyer files a brief with a fake or misdescribed authority and then the opposing party doesn't catch it and the Judge or clerk relies on it. The court issues an opinion adopting the hallucination. Later courts cite that opinion. Even the judge probably does not have precise enough access to their epistemic state at the time to say. So even if it's discovered later it probably won't be easy to overturn the original decision.
