Date: March 16th, 2026 2:00 AM Author: Lab Diamond Dallas Trump I bought Astro Bot and tried to play it. First thing I notice is that Stellar Blade is still in the disc drive. That game came out TWO YEARS ago. My PS5 has literally been dormant for ... 23 months. The console then launches into a lengthy cycle of "system updates" that do absolutely nothing. Ridiculous but I entirely expected that. Then the lengthy process of "copying" the game to the SSD, which despite the presence of the physical disc somehow takes longer than just downloading an entire game on PC. Again, ridiculous but expected. And then the final "fuck you," one I didn't see coming. A "controller firmware update" that does nothing, and somehow the controller just "doesn't work" (as in it just forces you into the update screen over and over and won't let you navigate the menu) even though it just outted itself as working perfectly fine when accepting the prompts to download the faggot system updates. Oh, and it can't just "do" the firmware update...it has to wait hours for the controller to charge up even though it's plugged in and has power.
I don't see how consolecucks put up with this. It's more convoluted to get your PS5 up and running if you leave it alone than it would be to get...like...an actual car running if you left it sitting in a lot for 2 years. I could change the battery and sparkplugs and flush the fuel lines and have it running start to finish in less time than this PS5 is taking.
And the worst part is, it's basically like law school -- you pay all the money for tuition and deal with all the exams and bullshit and your prize is to ... work in a law firm which is not a good thing in and of itself. After I've jumped through all the hoops to get the PS5 running, none of it will change the fact that it has No Games. It can be discarded and forgotten about for multiple years at a time and then you come back expecting some sort of Backlog, but nope, it's literally just One Game that you'll beat in a couple of days and then the PS5 spends several more years in exile. It's actually even worse than that, because the two-year gap is based off of Stellar Blade, which is better on PC and I should have just been patient and waited. Then before that, it was Unicorn Overlord, which isn't even exclusive, it's an Xbox game. So we actually have to go back even further, to the Demons Souls remake, to find a real exclusive. Basically the PS5 has a grand total of two relevant exclusives in its entire miserable life.
Then after all this, I guess there is apparently a "PS5 Pro" version. Who the fuck would buy that? What are they even playing on it? |

Actually better than anything Nintendo has made in a long time, which is devastating for switch fans trying to shill Donkey Kong Bananza. It actually boggles my mind that a mere 3% separates these games on metacritic. These games are a good 2-3 points apart on a 10 point scale. I guess now we know where the extra $10 in Donkey Kong's MSRP went. Astro Bot earned its reviews. Nintendo had to buy the reviews to sell the game.
