Sr. Strategic Communications Associate clearly requires a unique skill set that the H1B program was intended to service. There's no way an American educated or any native english speaker could perform such a highly specialized task

Counterpoint: If the point of the job is to "communicate" with potential Chinese and Indian students from rich families who will pay full freight and fund ongoing bloat at the university, that's a job for which an H1B visa holder from China or India may be uniquely qualified.

If it's just a generic comms position, then ljl at them trying to pay less to fill it by going the H1B route. And, honestly, we'd all probably be better off with them not filling the role at all.

In some states the Lt. Governor is more powerful than the Governor. Texas is like that, not sure about MO though

u are the bloody bitch bastard chod!

That statement is **overstated and mostly incorrect**.

### πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Texas (the classic example)

* In Texas, the **Lieutenant Governor of Texas** is *very powerful*—especially compared to other states.

* They:

* control the **state senate agenda**

* appoint key committees

* heavily influence legislation

Meanwhile, the Governor of Texas:

* has weaker appointment powers than many governors

* shares power with multiple independently elected officials

πŸ‘‰ So yes: the **Lt. Governor can rival or even exceed the governor’s influence on legislation**.

But:

* the governor still has veto power, executive authority, and visibility

* so it’s not strictly “more powerful overall”—just powerful in a *different lane*

---

### πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Missouri

* In Missouri, the Lieutenant Governor of Missouri is **much weaker**.

* Role is mostly:

* presiding over the senate (more ceremonial than Texas)

* limited independent power

The Governor of Missouri:

* clearly dominates (appointments, budget, executive control)

πŸ‘‰ No comparison to Texas here.

---

### 🧠 Bottom line

* **Texas is the exception**, not the rule

* In most states:

* governor = clearly more powerful

* lieutenant governor = secondary role

So the claim “some Lt. Governors are more powerful than Governors” is really:

πŸ‘‰ **“In Texas, the Lt. Governor is unusually powerful—especially in the legislature.”**
