yeah the azure and aws linux use dns package and are mainly fedora ecosystem I believe, but they are stripped down versions for cloud workers/node uses. Could be worth it if you need it specifically for that purpose rather than a general purpose vm with all the packages. I mean could be less of a headache than figuring out which version of hardened alpine or flatcar to use.
