This is how the typical birth goes:

During the the birth, the doctors and nurses talk to the mom like she is retarded and discount anything she says. They attempt to dictate when to give an epidural, when to give a c-section, when to induce labor, what position to be in during labor, etc. If dad dares speak up, the nurses at best roll their eyes and at worst have dad kicked out of the room for toxic masculinity.

Almost immediately after the birth, the baby is stripped away from his or her parents and put in a "nursery." A nursery is basically a sterile room with bright lights, where the baby is put in a straight jacket, i.e. swaddled, and placed into a plastic container, while one or two obese ghetto nurses "supervise" while shopping on their phones. Periodically, the babies are fed as well as given various shots. For male babies, a doctor comes and uses some medieval device to rip off the baby's foreskin before the obese nurse puts the baby back in his straight jacket and returns him to his plastic container. All babies will be taken from their container at some point and have their heal repetitively stabbed by the obese nurse and then blood squeezed from the wound and pressed against a piece of paper. Often times they can't get enough blood, so the stabbing continues.

In other words, from birth to discharge, the baby is shown no love or affection. It is neglected and physically abused instead.

I used to volunteer in a hospital and spent some time in L&D. Admittedly this was a long time ago and I think UMC women are less tolerant of this BS these days, but I have no doubt what I described is still true for the vast majority of births in America.

(I’m not sticking up for hospitals in general mind you, with our last kid this doddering old boomer anesthesiologist nearly killed my wife and soon-to-be-delivered baby by cranking the epidural - which was 100% something she asked for btw - too high for a minute. But other than that it was very comfortable for everyone and the baby was with us 95% of the time until discharge.)

It is true that some hospitals are more progressive than others. And say what you will about the negatives of mid-level providers, but more midwives means a move away from the scenario I described above. However, the fact remains, what I described is still the experience for the majority of Americans.
