So lets say he had $30MM in assets, plus they may have valued the firm at like $40MM, giving total communal assets of $70MM with her share $35MM.
If he's not going to give her his share of the firm, he may have to literally give her ALL of his / their assets, and maybe even take out a loan for the difference or, more likley, assign over a share of the firms profits for a certain amount of time.
More likley, he's keeping something like $5MM of the assets giving her $25MM of the assets, and then turning over $10MM of future firm receivables to her.

I'm getting some details wrong, but that's the gist. Luckily it was an industryu with reliable recurring revenue so he didnt get too fucked on his mutiple when he sold in a rush.
