Aircraft incident prompts emergency response at Bangor Airport
BANGOR, Maine — Crews are responding to the Bangor International Airport for an incident that happened around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the airport.
The airport asked people to avoid the area in a social media post around 8:30 p.m. The airport is currently closed.
Information was not immediately available, but officials said it was an incident involving an aircraft.
A source briefed on the incident told CNN that a private jet with eight people on board had crashed. The extent of their injuries was unknown.
The plane is a Bombardier Challenger 650 business jet, according to CNN.
Maine State Police are assisting Bangor police, a spokesperson said.
According to NEWS CENTER Maine meteorologist Ryan Breton, at 8 p.m. Sunday in Bangor, it was about -12 degrees out and lightly snowing. Visibility was about 3/4 of a mile.
