I don't have a side burner or a gas anything. Just a charcoal kettle grill. I have a couple thermometers and I bought a stainless steel insert to help with offset indirect cooking (it's called a slow-n-sear and it cost more than the grill itself). JOCK: Owns a grill, but cannot speak to particulars because women do the cooking. NERD: Multiple grills/smokers, lots of accessories, gadgets, preference for high quality meats and specialty wood, charcoal, gas, etc. LOSER: May not grill or grills only for themselves. SCUMBAG: One grill, almost exclusively gas grill. |

Jocks also grill themselves because grilling is man work. lol at letting a chick touch your grill.

losers live in apartments where grills are not allowed and they use foreman grills or stove pan searing techniques they read on reddit or they don't eat meat because it's unethical/they can't afford to

It's not a perfect fit, but I've learned that it's the best fitting ill-fitting clique for me. So my GRILLRIG is pretty clearly aligned with the sentiments of a NERD (charcoal only, harvest my own smoking wood, use high quality grill inserts (slow'n'sear), have thermometers, do smoking/grilling as a hobby). It’s the equivalent of dudes who can listen to a car driving for 20 seconds and know exactly what is wrong and how to fix it. Easily the most valuable skill I acquired while I was in college.
All that said, charcoal is CR for burgers (searing in pan first then finishing over charcoal). |
