nfl scouts are fucking horrible at assessing qbs
2021 first round: lawrence (ok), zach wilson (generationally bad), trey lance (so bad cant even get on the field), justin fields (below average), mac jones (terrible)
2022 first round: kenny pickett (well below average)
2023 first round: brice young (awful), richardson (jury out, but probably bad), stroud (good)
2024: caleb williams (looks like a bust), drake maye (too early to call), penix (too early to call), mccarthy (too early to call), nix (terrible)
the hit rate is atrocious

Too early on Williams he might still be good. It's too soon. I think he's better than Bryce Young et al.
I think you have to factor in too the degree to which coming into a horrible franchise can torpedo your career. Imagine Pat Mahomes had gone to the Jags and Trevor Lawrence was a Chief. It's insanely rare that a really good QB goes to a crap franchise and turns it around like a Josh Allen or a Derek Carr. Odds are you're going to get selected by the Jets who can't win with any QB.
Getting your team right so when a guy comes in he's not going to get the shit kicked out of him and has people to throw to is very rare. It's much more embarrassing to be Carson Wentz and show up to a team that already won the Super Bowl and is in win now mode and you just personally have nothing to contribute.
It's not Bryce Young's fault that the team absolutely blows and there's no one there to show him what to do nor give any support. He worked all his life to do this and even if he's below average he still would probably have an entirely different career trajectory if he had been taken by the 9ers. Hard to know who actually blows when the team is just so bad and you're not given any support.

I mean when your team completely sucks sometimes you need to play conservative. Nothing wrong with defense and running the ball. You gotta make short passes, do play action, mix it up as best you can to cause confusion.
If you want to air it out you need 2 things: an O line that can give you enough time in the pocket, and receivers who can get decent separation. If you have a horrible O line and shitty receivers then yeah you have to dink and dunk to move the chains.
Not a Panthers Master Man but yeah they sound horrible in all areas of the game. The only thing that can help a really shitty offense is skill position players who can make plays if you can get them the ball. A Larry Fitz type can energize an otherwise disastrous offense.

Their GM appears to be a retard. He's so dumb, he had the ability to be a dumbass in private but he actually invited Hard Knocks to film him being a dumbass.
But yeah I don't know what to say about Jones. He played well the year before he got his deal, just don't think he ever cared for football all that much.
Also letting Saquon go to a division rival and splooge on their faces every year.

Jury is not out on Stroud.
Geno is a great QB who doesn't run, who cares if he was drafted in the 2nd round
Deshawn Watson is another good one, he was never "fast as Vick" even when he was good.
You're out of your depth here little boy

Author: .;:..;:.;.:.;.,,,..,.:,.;....;,;;;..;,..,,.,,....,
His time to throw was the 6th fastest of all qbs on sunday and the texans still got pressure on him for 36/44 dropbacks. It was pretty much 95% the o-line's fault
