Jews went for centuries without a king, then boom! God gave them a king. But the king still had to earn it.

Both the prolonged absences of a king and the fact that David had to earn his title are offered as evidence against the divine right of kings. Pretty powerful stuff.

God went on a giant rant in the bible about how they shouldn't appoint a king, it was a terrible idea, and they were fools to consider it.

as usual, the heebs ignored Him.

Yeah Locke is saying kinghood isn't something you can just inherit from Adam. That's what these kings were claiming. They said "Adam was an absolute monarch, and so were Adam's sons, and I can trace my lineage to one of Adam's sons."

Locke was saying hey look at King Fucking David. By the time he became King, he had all kinds of IRL achievements under his belt. He never said "I inherited this from God." So I don't think Locke's reading is orthogonal to yours at all.

Locke also psychoanalyzes God a bit. He says that at the time God was giving Adam "dominion" over certain things, he was pissed off and cursing Adam out, if anything. God certainly wasn't in the mood to do Adam any favors.

Okay but the Jews are constantly fucked. We shouldn't learn anything from their example, we should do the opposite of what they do. Therefore always have a king and if any of them are named david, regicide them immediately.

Biblical scripture was first invoked by proponents of divine right of kings. In order to engage his opponents, Locke had to engage the Bible. He looks at how political order was established in the actual fuckin Bible and says "there's no divine right of anything here"

you're not getting the whole "people who struggle with god" bit and why modern jews valorize david and the davidic line and not the fag vampire judges who were favored by yhwh (according to the historical revisionists who wrote the succeeding books and the attendant attempts at writing a revisionist narrative) but hated by man

I don't care about that and neither did Locke. He was just reading what the Bible actually said and he never asked for anyone else's opinion.

Monarchy with noblesse oblige is the only CR government.

"democracy" inevitably becomes plutocracy.

Locke studied extensively in Germany, where kings were elected. Scholars of government were much more sophisticated in Germany back then, and they wrote in Latin. Locke could only write in English to his audience was limited from the beginning, and no one though highly of him in Germany while he was alive.

In England and America it was a different story, since we were already native English speakers. We couldn't read Latin as well as we could read Locke.

PS Locke had a contemporary who clowned on him from every dimension at all times. He was a Swedish lawyer named Samuel Pufendorf who DOMINATED Locke's thoughts 24/7. Locke couldn't mention him by name because he couldn't even write in Latin like Pufendorf, and his library was 1% as big. He was never in a position to even cite Pufendorf, even in praise, which he would never do out of fear of political repercussion.
