Housemos: Fun Legal Hypo re Landscaper Breaking Irrigation Pipes

we have 4 sprinkler zones. after the project was done, 2 of the zones weren't working. running zone 1 could produce a leak. running zone 2 would result in nothing happening.
the leak from zone 1 turned out to be a broken pvc pipe that the landscapers hit. the landscapers repaired it for us, and this solved zone 1.
but they had no idea what is going on with zone 2.
had our irrigation guy out, and it turns out zone 2 doesnt work because they hit a wire AND hit two different pvc pipes. irrigation guy has to fix two different pvs pipes, plus run a new wire.
irrigation guy said there's no way the landscaper guy would not have known he hit pvc, put probably wouldnt have known that he hit a wire. he said it's really shitty that they didnt tell us they hit a pipe.
who is liable? |

the worker who actually hit them may or may not have known, but prob didnt tell his boss either way.
obviously i told them to watch out for sprinklers |
