We are one major Katrinaesque catastrophe away from Trump’s approval ratings getting below 30, and if the recession is bad enough that will do it on its own. The hilarious thing about Bush 43’s collapse in 05-06 is that the economy was artificially pumped by all the low interest rate borrowing and speculation. So the tariffs are poised to be as popular as SS privatization and the Iraq War combined.
