XO may have already covered this. This dood bought a Ferrari under some sort of tax haven shell corp in Montana and never paid the sales tax to Williamson County.
His complaint is that they never sent him a letter saying it was owed. He also complains that he pays a lot of taxes already so this surcharge is ridiculous. The car was also destroyed in Texas somehow. But it's heavily implied that the car did spend considerable time in Tennessee.
He's also 'in the process' of purchasing property in Montana and therefore should be exempted. Also mentions having a Russian fiancée who lives in Dubai wtf.
This is all so crazy but it seems like he almost certainly bought a $400,000 car in Montana, drove it to Tennessee, and owes $30k in taxes. Instead of sending him a letter they just arrested him. Sounds like he's guilty and just pissed that his tax avoidance scheme didn't pan out. |

Did he actually believe some bullshit he read on the internet about how you don't have to pay any sales tax if you buy a car in Montana? "I didn't know" is a pathetic excuse. He should have known.
State doesn't have to baby him. He should have known and he believed his own bullshit. He should pay up. He's a scumbag. |

Tons of people don't pay what they owe. Tons of people aren't going to pay their electricity bills this month there. Tons of people are going to get parking tickets and ignore them. Tons of people are not going to declare things on their state tax returns. They know they owe the money. They don't get jailed for it. It is butthurt state employees who will never be able to afford a ferrari jealous of this guys wealth and jailing him for it. |

e.g. resident of tennessee buys a car from an illinois dealership but lies and claims he live in montana and submits a montana llc address. the dealership expects the buyer to take care of whatever taxes he owes to montana (which would be zero for a genuine montana resident.) |

Date: December 1st, 2025 3:58 PM Author: hank_scorpio jfc I thought this was a law bort, what he did has been going on for like a decade now and is incredibly common for supercar owners, there is no fraud involved in setting up a montana llc to own your cars, Tennesse just got butthurt about it decided to make an example of this famous dood, but their argument is not that he did anything fraudulent it is that once the car spent 60 days or something in the state he had an obligation to register it in the state seems like a problem for them that the party that would be responsible for registering it is the llc and you don't generally just arrest the owner of a company the second you think there may be some tax issues |
