Classic design. Can't go wrong with a blur even if it's an assisted opening.

Serious Q - what’s the negative to assisted open knives? Seems like people who are serious about knives don’t like them.

Objectively, there is nothing wrong with a spring assist. But it ruins the knife for me. It's a cheap way to have a functional knife. If you have a spring blasting it open, you don't have to worry as much about precision of the parts. You also can't really fiddle with a spring assisted knife.

Fair enough. I broke the tip off my expensive bitchmade a decade or so back and replaced it with a cheap Kershaw assisted. It wasn’t as nice, but worked fine and I kind of liked the spring. Fiddled with it with my hand in my pocket a ton and the spring finally broke after several years. Kershaw sent me a new spring for free and it worked fine for several more years after that.

I have dozens of knives and half the time I forget to carry even one and the other half I carry like three between the one in my pocket, the one in my bag and the one on my keychain. And there are usually like 5 of the things in my car.

Well the tenacious is now $65. But the difference in price is:

1) materials: the sage 5 comes with a higher quality blade steel.

2) design: the sage has a cooler locking mechanism

3) build quality: the tenacious is made in the Chinese factory where the lower end models are made. They are imperfect and don't have great fit and finishing. The sage is made in the Taichung Taiwan factory where the best models are made with the highest quality fit and finishing.
