I have you beat slightly on house sq footage, but you beat me by a fucking mile on acreage + barn. Curious how far are you from a major metro? I’m 20 mins.

We're about an hour to the city core and 40 minutes to the shopping center burbs. We are 7 miles out from the center of a town of 17000. It's 9 miles to the grocery store. The county is pretty rural. A little over 60000 people in 530 sq miles.

You forgot to add in the winter house stats, along with the other properties you purchased to keep your issue housed, but not under your roof.

You can add 1900 for the winter house, 1339 for #1 kid and 840 for #2. #2 also has an 840 sq ft usable basement not counted in sq footage.

You probably live in a neighborhood. The country is more random. Trailers aren't allowed unless grandfathered in, but houses range from shacks to luxury digs.

I bought in a town where bylaws prohibit subdividing past a certain point and houses have to be offset from the street by 30 feet (iirc). Neighboring towns lot sizes are all tiny, houses stacked on top of each other, dunno how ppl do it.

depends on what you're counting - current home value to official permitted house space? in that case mine's about $1,300/sqft, but i have a remodeled garage office that i'm currently poasting from that would drop it to about an even $1k/ft.

purchase cost to permitted space around $1k/ft, purchase cost to total usable space under $800/ft.

also socal.

Pretty sure EPAH's house is not the largest, but he might win if the contest is "most prestigious location."

no groceries except the freshest and best-quality fish and fruit, anyway. plus poi if that's you're thing.

anyone calling hawaiian natives "extremely hostile" or the azns there "unassimilated" has never left the upper midwest

The locals are nice to you because you have a great physique and a nice tan. Pasty overweight birdshits from the Mainland struggle a bit more.

Multigenerational family compound on 18 acres spread across three +4K sqft homes with 11 total bedrooms and four accessory buildings. Small creek running through the property that feeds an adjacent fishing pond on my neighbors land.
