like maybe one kid would say "this is too complicated and i dont really give a fuck" then go out and play with his other friends and go on to be a pro athlete or scientist or whatever. but the other kid is totally drawn into it thinking "this is what i was born for".

Very simple stuff tbh

1. Ultrasplash Gorerender 3DX technology

2. Co-op games

3. Possible to do things in the electronic mirror that man hasn't done since the age of the Wuxia masters and the world being shrouded in primordial mists

The two outcomes were not mutually exclusive either

There's a slight dissonance between the thread title and the OP

Which games specifically? Probably Goldeneye/FPS (right hand path) or JRPGs (left hand path)

90s games weren’t even hard except Genesis games. Streets of Rage comes to mind.

Simcity is like a quintessential console game that Losers could enjoy and no one else. This is the sort of thing you’re talking about. It’s not like an RTS or other sim. It’s about being a mayor. A liberal artist’s dream. And getting a megalopolis requires shrewd af tactics. Simcity was originally a western PC game. Nintendo rebuilt it from the ground up themselves for SNES. We all know why.

it was 101%ing Donkey Kong Country trilogy by Rareware

but mostly DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest which had some hard as fuck bramble levels

DKC1 got bundled with the SNES

hardly anybody even played DKC3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble which maybe came out after N64. But you got a jet ski in the overworld just to cruise around in
