“And then that’s when we started figuring out they had bad gas,” said Ashton Mcewin, an Okemah resident.
A quick pit stop for drivers in Prague is now bringing their lives to a halt.
“There was about seven or eight of us that had the same experience Friday night,” said Mcewin.
Following several complaints about the Prague Town Food Market’s gas, a state inspector found 5.5 inches of water in the octane tank.
“I had to stop and put gas, I put about $20 in, and I made it about a half mile down the road when my truck just started making noises I’ve never heard before and then it completely died,” said Mcewin.
Mcewin is just one of many who are now left with no way to get around and no answers.
“I thought it was something else, and I sat there for about five or six hours trying to get it started.
KOCO 5 spoke with the owners of the corner store, who said the water came from construction issues and that they are offering to help impacted customers, an offer Mcewin never received.
“I feel like they should be responsible for everybody and just make it right,” he said.
Experts say water in your fuel tank can lead to thousands of dollars in maintenance.
But for Mcewin, this experience has cost him a lot more than money.

“It’s put a lot of us out of vehicles, that was my only ride,” he said.
Store management told KOCO 5 that they have closed their gas pumps while they work to solve the problem.
