The long-term average stock-heavy 401(k) return ≈ 7–9% nominal (≈5–6% real after inflation).

A 13–14% compound annual return for four straight years is possible, but not typical or sustainable**.**

You might get that if markets perform exceptionally (like 2020–2024 with a strong tech rally).

But over decades, that’s well above normal.

Annual return Years to go from $600k → $1M

7% ~7.3 years

9% ~6.0 years
