My son seems really smart

if he's actually smart, the "teaching" he gets in "school" doesn't matter at all. he will already be smarter than his teachers before he even hits puberty. they're practically useless. he will learn everything effortlessly on his own, regardless of what happens at school
at the very least, absolutely *do not* start him in school a year early. for the same reasons listed above, this can be catastrophic for a boy's social development. you never, ever want to allow your son to be bullied or low social status under any circumstances |

Listen to this podcast. It is fascinating. I think the average kid at Penn was like a year older than normal and there were kids who were like 20-22 months older.
