- there are no difficulty sliders, the game is balanced around how much you want to take advantage of the various crutches it offers. this means you don't run into the game essentially breaking once you reach a certain level (whether its due to becoming too easy or a sudden difficulty spike) as the devs can more carefully balance each area/encounter knowing it's one-size-fits-all (numberswise at least)
- the open world genuinely sucks you in and makes you want to explore. it's beautiful, the player is frequently rewarded with some kooky encounter or powerful item a bit off the beaten path, and generally speaking the game has a good amount of variety. yeah there's still a bit too much copypasta in that some minor encounters are repeated too often, but these are the exception, not the rule. for the most part every area feels incredibly unique, and it's sort of revolutionary in that it feels like the first fantasy game to really envelop the player in an open world
- related to above, there's no "DOTHISTHINGLOOKHEREANEXCLAMATIONPOINTFOLLOWTHEOBJECTIVE" clutter/bullshit you get with most AAA open-world games
the main downsides are that some of the systems in the game are a too obfuscated for new players, there's a bit of a learning curve (and tribal knowledge when it comes to stuff like "caster-based builds are easier"), the engine optimization is absolute garbage, and if you do get sucked and end up exploring quite a bit in it's really fucking long (I think I clocked something like 90 hours on my playthrough)
