IME the majority of women do not understand slips. Society has degraded to the point that most women do not comprehend that for reasons of modesty and/or comfort, that there exists an article of clothing that they should often wear in between their bra/panties and their dress.
I don't know who or what to blame. I do know they aren't widely available IRL. I just searched what Walmart/Target/Kohls have in stock near me; only Target has one slip.
Victoria's Secret is somehow even worse. They have a lot of "slips", but essentially none of them are staples. It's all lingerie or sleepwear or even actual dresses.
