cinci is an interesting thought but it seems strictly dominated by pittsburgh. idk what i'd get out of cinci that i wouldn't get better out of pittsburgh, has similar positives and negatives.
boston is a fine template for pretty much as good as i can reasonably expect to get given the basic parameters set out here, so i'll refrain from getting into my criticisms of boston itt. obviously there are no megacity candidates and i'd like to avoid strip mall cities which is the other danger here. |

Easily the best of the three "big" Ohio cities these days and the literal definition of a "scaled up college town." I've never lived there, but traveled there many times for various things. Always thought it seemed pretty chill. Good midwest red state vibes overall, with the good parts of college-town lib stuff (decent bars and restaurants and cultural shit). Some nice neighborhoods in the city (German Village best) and nice suburbs (Worthington, New Albany etc). Small enough that its easy to get around and pretty chill. Big enough that there's stuff going on. State capitol + huge good university. Growing city. Urban dysfunction extremely isolated and easily avoided. Good attitudes. Nice airport.
