Eventually achieves more success but it unfulfilled by her lot in life and feels superior to every guy she dates, whether it's blue collar chad decent guys like Puddy or white collar guys who are some combo of weird/old/dorky.
Jerry is basically the same except they make his character seem as non-jewey as possible and have him continuously bang chicks way more attractive than him. They do this in all the Adam Sandler movies as well. |

in the 80s every sitcom had to have a hook where the main characters were different than ordinary folks. sam malone is a retired ballplayer who buys a bar, tony mircelli is a retired ballplayer who becomes a housekeeper, cosby is a nigger that actually raises his children well. all of these things have an element of fantasy. seinfeld even stared with that as it was supposed to be about the unusual novelty of being a professional comedian. the whole nbc pilot plot is about creating a show about nothing, i.e. ordinary life, when the studio execs wanted some other hook. that's the whole "sentenced to be my butler" bit.
seinfeld is the show that ushered in the return of "ordinary people" sitcoms like friends and and raymond. in the 80s it was all kitschy shit like alf. |
