there's not enough information to judge right now, but i think when there is people lose that context. it reminds me of prez from the wire killing another cop. i doubt very, very much that the officers who fired were itching to murk some lady, even if they really disliked her for obstructing their job and causing a stressful situation where this was possible. i think the lady wouldn't have been emboldened to act this way in a situation where lethal violence is possible if she wasn't radicalized by political partisanship.
i think it's tragic for everyone involved. i don't think many care about the officers who took a life, whose feelings about this are unlikely to be changed by the judgment of people who weren't there, and will have to live with whatever guilt or feelings they will have about this, and whose lives will be forever changed and absolutely defined by a split second moment where there were in real (whether justified or not) fear. the same for the woman and her close ones. and i think the predictable partisan hot takes, with everyone running to xo, x, etc., to use this to prove the moral superiority of their preexisting beliefs, with no minds being changed, and no compassion for opponents (fellow americans), demonstrates that people are digging themselves into bitterness and divisiveness still, with no end in sight yet. |

the most minimally persuasive lawyer in the land could successfully sway a jury with instructions pinned around the state of the law. but i agree that the openly corrupt feds will delay or defer charging forever. maybe there is some procedural stuff i don't know about here but i would bet the state/muni gov SOLs for MURDER or even shit like negligent homicide are more than a handful of years. the notion that the shooter will just walk away from this is silly and any decent person would want to see this guy held accountable. |

1) Renee was terrified for her life. She absolutely was NOT. She was smiling and taunting officers. Literally zero fear.
2) The officer was not hit. Clearly, he was hit HARD.
3) Renee didn't know who the officers were. Clearly false from the new footage, they knew EXACTLY who they were.
4) Renee was peacefully trying to leave the scene. Clearly not, she slammed on the accelerator directly into the officer, even when she had nearly a full minute to leave the scene prior to him being in front of the car.
5) Renee wasn't involved in any ICE-related activities. Instantly proven false. The wife/partner in the video clearly states they are going to harass ICE "later".
What is beyond insane to me is that the Renee's partner screams for her "Drive! Drive!" when law enforcement commands her to exit the car.
Absolutely horrifying to watch. |
