Last week I drove by a building unders construction, maybe 6 floors already built, and shoring column cylinders are still in place at ground level.

that being said, I looked again at the still pics. you can see thick slabs of concrete all stacked on top of each other. could easily be that they used poured slabs as flooring because it’s cheaper, but it’s also much heavier than basically anything else. if the columns aren’t increased in thickness to compensate, then you can get collapse. reinforced concrete is very resistant to compression (thx to the concrete) and stretching (thanks to the steel rebar), but it is notoriously brittle when subject to swaying forces like an earthquake
