tbf in the US the ones you make later in life don't really. this is a bizarrely transactional society and a lack of general communal constitution in many areas makes for precarious and money-based relations between individuals or family units. i have friends from my early life that i haven't seen in decades who i could probably call up and pick up right where i left off; whereas people i see every other weekend, relations made later in life, i wouldn't dare rely on for anything other than conversation
a lot of these systematic social criticisms are just being pushed aside in favor of a reset over the topsoil when many of the issues took some digging, sacrifice, and effort to get down to the root. it's part of why i'm in my Kruger Industrial Smoothing era atm
