Is it ethical to eat your pet after it dies?

Both my cat and my dog are getting visibly older and encountering issues related to age. I believe one or both of them are going to die this year. I am seriously thinking about eating them after they die. I think the arguments are threefold: (1) in an odd way, it honors them; (2) it would be wasteful not to; (3) it would spare me and them the ignominy of having to throw their bodes in the garbage outside my building. Curious what others think about this.

There actually is a supposedly "voodoo" cemetery a couple miles west of where I live, near a mangrove swamp. I guess I could try the resurrection route and see what happens. If I return to the grave on the next day and it's freshly dug open ....
