How bad is the average underlying credit (like borderline IG with real asset value, earnings, or true shit LBOs done at inflated marks that could free fall into bankruptcy and pay out pennies)?
I suspect most buyers’ response is LOL I dunno it’s AAA and the last few crises have had massive bailouts, so I’ll take a random unknown amount of credit risk to make some spread.
Does look better than BBB bonds which have some pretty obvious credit risk and duration risk, but not a Treasury substitute. |
