If you attend 162 randomly assigned games during the course of the 187 day regular MLB season, you get $5M. Specifically:
You will be assigned an opening day game as soon as you accept participating in the hypo. After that, you'll get each subsequent random game assignment at the time of the scheduled first pitch of the preceding game. Most of the time it will be the next day.
You'll never be assigned a day game in the Eastern or Central Time Zones the day after a night game in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zones. And you'll never be assigned a game outside the US and Toronto.
To get credit for the game, you must be in your seat by the time of the first pitch, and you must remain in the stadium until any one of the following occurs: the end of the game, the end of the of the 12th inning, the game is called for rain, 2 hours of rain delay(s).
If you miss any of your assigned games, the hypo is over and you lose.
You must find your own tickets, transit, lodging, etc.
The $5M is tax free.
Do you accept?

You would 100% get fucked by the airlines midway through the season, probably involving some night game in Minnesota followed by a day game in Miami the next morning. Your only hope would be to publicize your adventure through ESPN or something that you’d generate so much public interest and support that you’d have a private jet to rescue you. You’d better have a magnetic personality for that.
If I were poor I’d risk it.

50% of the time you can drive or take the train without even cutting it close.
40% of the time you'll be able to fly without issues.
10% of the time, you can try to charter a flight, combine flights and driving....

midwit response. one hurricane, blizzard, etc could easily ground your flight and you are out all the effort and expense of this bullshit. the games are randomly selected so you won't be able to knock out 3 easy games in a series, and any natural disaster that fucks your travel is not going to cause the next randomly assigned game to be cancelled (as it might if you were following one team from place to place). Even a simple flight delay could fuck you if you have a friday night game followed by a faraway early saturday game since you wouldn't necessarily be able to secure a different flight. These don't have to be high-probability events. You have to be *perfect* over 162 attempts.
This isn't a "do an onerous task to secure your financial future" hypo. There is signficant risk to be mitigated or priced in to decide whether it's worth it.

Not so.
Your example is nbd. The game ends at 9:45. There is a flight from Pittsburgh direct to Tuscon at 11:15. If you make it, you're set. Drive to SD overnight or hie to PHX and take one of several morning flights to SD.
Even if you don't make the flight to Tuscon, you can drive overnight to DTW, EWR, IND, or somewhere else and easily fly to SD in the morning.
And you can charter a flight if you want to. Adding a no-private-flights-restriction would make it more interesting and still very achievable.

You need your own plane, buy a used Cessna or something like that. It won’t be a storm or inability to find a flight that trips you up. It’ll be your on the plane that gets you there in plenty of time but the airline says oops there is a slight delay for a maintenence issue but we will be departing shortly.
Then they will repeat that line every 30 minutes until 8 hours pass and they finally cancel the flight. You’re never going to always know in enough time whether you need to go to plan B because the airlines are never going to tell you the truth about any flight delay.
Commercial air / charters needs to be your plan b. Plan A needs to be I am going to fly myself in my own plane.

A Cessna is not the credited response. It does not get you from coast to coast overnight. The Rockies are a big (though not insurmountable) obstacle. Good luck when there is a huge storm system over Utah and New Mexico or elsewhere in the midwest that you can't go over or through when trying to leave San Diego. And good luck when you face some maintenance issue and you're at a tiny airport somewhere.
It also tethers you to the plane. If you're in Seattle with your Cessna, you can't hop a commercial jet to Boston. You need to get your Cessna there if you want to keep using it the next day.
The long delay made up of small delays accumulating that you mentioned for the commercial flight is a real risk. But most of the time, you're not stuck on the plane for those delays. If your flight is delayed and you haven't boarded, get on another flight, get in a car, or see about a charter. The only real issue is if you're stuck on a commercial plane with no other options on one of the cross-country legs.
Most teams are within about a 600 mile radius of Cincinnati. And most of the rest are a reasonable drive from each other in California/Arizona. The majority of your trips will be an easy drive, easy short flight, or combination of the two.

Lease a used citation and hire a pilot on each coast. Speed boats on the Mississippi, great lakes, and inter coastal waterway too. Autonomous vehicles all over in hubs.
Or partner with fedex for the next day delivery challenge and go full bore globalcap loser. They could get a package to and from each game I bet. Why not a balding lawyer?
