for a brief period in college i made crazy $$$ selling complete next computers to a handful buyers on usnet. we'd piece together 030 boards (for cubes) and 040 boards (slabs) along with cases, power supplies, etc that we'd find here and there and got a silly high premium for it.
to me, those next machines were peak 680x0. never knew who the buyer ultimately was, but my friend at the time was convinced it was the nsa buying up all the defunct next machines to have proprietary hardware to run on.
