She bought it last November, just before Thanksgiving, and didn't tell me. Apparently went to a dealership with a long list of demands and they took her fingers. JFC.
Why is everyone around me so stupid and incompetent?

Flame,
How did she even spend that much on a Camry, they’re like $40k at the highest trim

Yes, this is pretty much what happened. She went in person to the Dealership, demanded a red Camry, demanded a moon roof and probably said something along the lines of “I like music and I want the best sound system.”
This put her into the highest trim. I think she also demanded it be a hybrid.
Then they did the whole runaround with her and she told me “I asked them but they never provided me the final out the door price.”
Says she didn’t know what the price would be until she got her first bill (she financed but intended to pay it off this quarter). First bill came and the balance was $11,000 higher than she expected.
I asked her why she didn’t call me to help her buy the car and she sheepishly said that I’m too busy and have too much going on and she thought she could do it herself.
I swear she’s just like Ma Livia was to Tony Soprano.

No negative equity.
She traded them in a 2019 Ford Fusion that she didn't like. It was completely paid off. I asked and I think she said she got $4000 on the trade in?
I think a reasonable price for that vehicle in the used market would be about double that to $10,000. It was high mileage and was purchased by her last husband as a rental car return.
But yeah, they got her on that a bit too.
She says she declined buying "most" of the warranties, but she was probably lying to me. She lies to me a lot because she doesn't want me to think that she's stupid (she is).

She’s smart enough to realize you’d think she was stupid, so she tried to do it herself. But not smart enough to take your advice beforehand
Society is tough for dumbs. I guess some people would say work on your soft skills but LOL
