why can't they hire some developers to write some custom in-house software that lets them use Colossus I and II? Why are they offering to pay $60bn for Cursor instead of just vibe-coding something that replicates its functions for, like, $20 million in Claude tokens? Not enough jeets working there already?

how can they not just make their own agentic harness when claude code and codex are open source?

Their plan is to acquire Cursor instead, for $60bn. We'll see what unfolds!

P.S. I got the $60bn figure from the CFO's video. It's in the footnote of a slide

Maybe their take is that cursor already exists and has the infrastructure set up, employees who know what they are doing etc. Seems easier than building from scratch when you already have the money to just buy the company already formed instead of attempting to bootstrap from scratch. Even with claude code and codex open source and with agentive coding so accurate and fast now. The annoying part is probably setting up the human side, with workers who already know a product that already exists etc.

You're right, this is probably the most efficient allocation of $60bn by SpaceX
