A large majority of the white people - which are still around 80% of the country I believe - agree on the basics of how the country should be run, what its values should be, etc. Sure, there is disagreement between the political parties, but it's on the margins by US standards. Half the country doesn't hate the other half, which I submit is a basic requirement for a functioning country. |
