Here’s the deal—$550 billion (the figure pulled between $500 b and $550 b) is meant to come from Japanese government-affiliated institutions, not private corporations.
According to Reuters, the package will be made up of loans and guarantees provided by entities such as the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), empowered by legal reforms enabling expanded overseas support.
Japan’s negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, emphasized that profit sharing won’t be a flat 90/10 split as U.S. officials have claimed, but instead will reflect each side’s proportional contribution and risk exposure.
