Talk me back from the ledge bro. Do you remember the year of manufacture, the length, anything about the sails/rigging etc?

It was like 40 years old, trimaran. It had been sitting in the water during Covid for like three years. The main sail had tears in it. The boat had like 20 holes in the deck (delamination I think its called). There also were a few holes in the outboards I think its called which are the extensions on the right and left on trimarans from the main hull. So at these holes you could actually look in a compartment and there was a hole going directly into the water below but since the extensions are raised the water didn't get in.

The engine wasn't actually a boat engine, it was a rebuilt truck engine that was like 20 years old. It barely worked.

The batteries were all old and dead. It had old solar that still worked a bit. The fans were all dead. It had no navigation equipment working. The two outboard engines didn't work. The safety gear like life raft, flares, GPS, walkie talkie all didn't work. There was a smaller boat they use to get to land (forget name of those), but it had fallen apart cause it was made of wood and had been left out in the sun for years. The toilet was disgusting and didn't work anyway.

There were some other things too I forget now but other than these things it was set to sail and a great deal for $20k USD or whatever I paid for it cant even remember anymore

haha oh wow holy shit. My friends all say don't buy a cheap boat because they're money sinks but I don't think I would ever buy something like that. I'm more interested in something like 30-40' just for cruising the Great Lakes not trying to circumnavigate. Fresh water is going to mean a lot less wear and tear too.

yea but it seems any boat is just a gay money sink, its a fraud industry

recently ive been thinkin of getting a small powerboat like a fishing boat and just putting electric engines and solar panels on it and sleeping on board 2-3nights at at time, keep it in pattaya marina

I don't think you want electric drive, just get a common plain ass nigga sailboat like a 30+ foot Catalina, Beneteau, or Tartan because they made a billion of them and you will never have a hard time getting parts.

Like the Toyota Corolla of sailboats. Don't try to build your own Tesla.

ljl im not getting a sailboat benchod, entire point of electric is its easier to maintain, doesnt break down as much. i dont even know if this is possible yet but i imagine gorgeous chinks will create an affordable all electric boat with amazing battery and solar life
