We seem to be in a similar place with CTE and football as we are with cigarettes ie everyone recalibrated to a level of risk that corresponded to a social norm of smoking 2 packs a day and in that context it became socially unacceptable to make mention of the fact that the effect of smoking 2 packs a month is negligible and potentially positive relative to alternatives for orally fixated people like overeating. |
