playing games is counterproductive to understanding the state of gaming imo

in 1997 you would rent a Game from Blockbuster and if it kinda sucked then you would just grin and bear it and try to wring some fun out of it. it was all you had at that moment in time and only a few friends in your basement to whine about it with.
now there are 990000k Games in your Backlog and intellectually dishonest shitheads like cowshit will dismiss them all because of some recondite preference for a very specific kind of Japanese dynamic that hasn't been around since 1999 and every trailer for a new game has an endless comment stream of spittle-specked Nerd rage tearing it apart for every little perceived flaw, imperfection, or lack of verisimilitude. The Game is Dead a year and a half before it even releases or anyone has played it.
Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, drown out the noise, make a nice cuppa tea and Play the Game.
