cr - it's a mindfuck, i've had the experience too.

also sort of on a tangent, from Norm Macdonald memoir

“The only thing an old man can tell a young man is that it goes fast, real fast, and if you’re not careful it’s too late. Of course, the young man will never understand this truth.”

it totally is, what an advantage it would be to go back in time and get a fresh crack at it - but impossible obviously

i usually shut it down pretty quick when i entertain the thought - a lot of time wasted being a young know-nothing

Not to sound like an autist, but Norm McDonald's statement is completely false. I received a tremendous amount of life advice as a younger man, about many things other than how fast time flies by, and I listened to much of it, to my benefit. At the same time, I was well aware that tempus fugit and that I was having some once in a lifetime experiences in college, and I worked very hard to take full advantage of them.

Got a lot of great memories as a result.

the buildings looked smaller and crappier than i remember. i think it's just because i was so impressed when i was young. it felt much more like a bubble, less opportunity, almost sort of confining. it was strange to think the professors spend their entire lives there. i remember what it felt like to think my whole life was ahead of me, and the world would open to me once i graduated. i also realized that was really naive, but still a nice thought
