>Martin’s circumstances lent this Court a useful shorthand: When we bar indigent litigants from filing any future in forma pauperis petitions, we now say that we are “Martinizing” them

where is jackson wrong? seems a bit much for prisoners to be banned forever after 5-6 petitions, esp if there are changes in the law etc.

countercounterpoint: why does the scotus require 40 paper copies of every filing, such that the government probably uses taxpayer shekels to print out their filings 40x until theyre banned?

part of having a decent democracy is being able to tolerate some abuse of the court system by inmates. so at some point you can deem him a vexatious litigant or whatever, but you should waive costs because of our commitment to the First Amendment.

5-6 shitpapers doesnt seem enough to deem someone a vexatious litigant. we endure 100s of shitthreads by mentally ill spammers each day. these scotusfags can deal.

these shitpetitions can easily be denied in one sentence orders. it's not like some trial court lawsuit that actually has to be litigated.

and don't they have special clerks for these post-conviction briefs? just stamped "denied" after a short read.

i'm comparing it to some trial court shitpaper, where the government has to respond, the court has to issue a ruling, etc.

for these scotus petitions, the govt doesnt need to respond and the court doesnt even need an individual order. they just list the case on the list of weekly orders as denies

Eh. In the unlikely event he as an actually meritorious claim someday, non-profits will be tripping over themselves to represent him. They wouldn't have to pay the backfines, just the pennies for the current one. To the extent he suffers at all from this, it's his own fault.
