The final report notes that Jenny Blalock passed her private pilot practical test in May 2022. An analysis from the investigation explains that pilots told the NTSB that she “routinely demonstrated poor manual aircraft handling and struggled with cockpit automation.” It continued to state that her training history showed that she had “demonstrated difficulty maintaining situational awareness” and that one of the instructors who had flown with her suggested the high-performance airplane she purchased a year and a half before the crash was “beyond her level of pilot proficiency.”
The report also included toxicology report information that said the Jenny Blalock had used multiple medications, including trazodone, oxymetazoline (which is sometimes marketed as Xanax) and buspirone, that the FAA classifies as medications pilots should not fly for a certain period after taking. The report added, however, that the measurement of how much of the medications were in her system was limited because of the extent of her injuries.
