Millenials came of age through 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the great recession, the whole time being forcefed how evil the right and conservatives were by news and pop culture. This all culminated in the perfect layup, the 2008 election, where the entire media apparatus right up to SNL could dunk on McCain as a warmonger and Palin as a complete retard (not that they were wrong). Taking a hit of the Obama "HOPE" message at that point was nothing short of pure heroin, and created a generation of addicts.
Almost 20 years later you have people approaching their mid-40s who STILL can't wait to see how SNL or John Oliver is going to dunk on conservatives every week. The Democratic Party is still the party of hope and change who is going to save the country. The line was drawn for these people long ago, and nothing since then produced the slightest bit of cynicism or introspection. They post earnestly on facebook, reddit and xitter (UGH cant we just fire Orange Man into the goddamn sun already!!) and can't wait to get out on Saturday morning for this week's No Kings event (maybe [young fiery local Dem politico] will show up to support us!)
They're permanently stuck with the mind of college kids.
