You are obviously correct that you need to find out the document with the date that the IRS will use if you're ever audited. I think if you have a 2025 receipt that'll be good enough to claim 'oopsies' if the document they would rely on is the bill of lading. I do not think there is a document that gets sent to the IRS related to car sales, but I have no idea for real. Honestly, this is a perfect chatgpt question.
