And, the taxes only ever go up. With how juiced the economy is and how much inflation there is, the tax rates shouldn't need to go up given that the amounts being taxed are going up so much--for sales taxes and property taxes in particular. |

I didn’t really tell people anything, at first no one said anything cause people get laid off all the time so not working for a short time in a UMC suburb isn’t weird. But after a while passed, people started noticing and asking questions. I didn’t want to say “well unlike you I saved money so it’s NBD” so for a while I said I got a good severance. Which I did, but no severance lasts three years or whatever it’s been now. I have a lot of prole acquaintances/family and they wouldn’t understand FIRE, they’d just think I was “rich” and they’d get jealous and/or ask for money. So now I just say “well my wife is still working and we don’t have a lot of expenses” which I guess works but I think people know something’s up.
