What we're seeing on Twitter and reading what the journos are saying, it's all just a narrative for the muppets. I think they like whipping their people up into a frenzy over a non-existent "rising tide of fascism", it drives donations, it creates excuses to riot and protest, the consultant class gets fed, the NGOs have a bonanza. They are natural losers, it's when they make all their money and it's when their voters get the most energized. Seems like an orchestrated two-step dance the parties engage in to keep people constantly going to the polls, constant refrains of, "but the other team!" crammed down the throats of weary political junkies every election cycle.

Trump is an exciting figure because despite his faults he breaks up the continuity with zero effort, that's really why both parties hate him. He gives his supporters something bigger to hope for than the latest iteration of reptilian Republican operative. Trump destroys the continuity of the two-party system simply by triumphing over the bullshit both sides throw at him, he's a force of nature. Even if they keep him in check in the short-term, his efforts will destabilize their system in the long-term. This is really why they're hysterical imo, they realize this man that (almost) exists outside of time has pierced the veil and now both parties will have to adapt to a new form of post-Trump politics 4 years from now, when Trump exhausts his last term. There's no way we're going to come off the heels of a second Trump presidency and get excited to vote for Marco fucking Rubio.

The GOP might be in bigger shit Post-Trump than the Democrats are right now. GOP voters just stay home if they feel underserved by their party. The Left actually weirdly gets motivated when in the same position. Another 4 years of Trump will be energizing for the Dems and the GOP will have no answer for. The cycle will continue.
