Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz is trailing his Democratic challenger Colin Allred in a shocking new poll that could signal trouble for the longtime lawmaker.

According to a Morning Consult survey released Friday, Allred has a one-point advantage over Cruz at 45% to 44%.

It comes after Donald Trump adviser Chris LaCivita wrote on X earlier this week: 'What the hell is wrong with the Senate race in Texas? I think i know …and i think i know his name ….time to get some real professionals in to save @tedcruz'

Cruz is still expected to keep his seat and has held a lead over Allred in all previous polls.

The Cook Political Report maintains that the race is still 'likely Republican.'
