I feel like we get Fewer Games than anyone is willing to admit

Like when Prime 4 bombed people didn’t say “Ninendo’s results suffered from making bad games,” they all said “the holiday was soft for lack of a major western Title.” If games are bad they just say they don’t exist.
Nintendo & others HOLD BACK big time. They know the Total Addressable Market won’t increase just bc they make more Games. They err on making fewer games. The market gets flooded with insane Nerds making nonsense but people’s time is limited and they are fickle. Nintendo knows this and they are shrewd as hell. They make precious few games in order to create a sense of Scarcity. Every 10 years, they get a hit. OOT. Wii. BOTW/Animal Crossing. The latter came too fast in succession so they slowed down their output so as not to tempt fate. Discuss. |

It was something about how devs either need to make their own game engine or they need to be *capable* of making their own engine. Otherwise, you get "devs" who are just capable enough of making a game with an off the shelf engine that simplifies the process to the point where all they do is focus on the superficial (graphics, lighting, and often libtard ideological crap) instead of making an actual fun game.
The easier it becomes to make a game, the more derivative everything gets. And the more it allows for endless women / trannies to come in and muck shit up. |

Westerners who go into game dev who aren’t hardcore Nerds usually suck imo. It needs to be Nerd-driven. Doom for example was a real-time visibility, memory-bandwidth, and fixed-point arithmetic problem disguised as a game. Engineering, champ. At least that helped them maintain some level of integrity and actually ship a product even if the gameplay is meh and you just get Lost in terribly designed levels.
