To me “good open world” just meant GTA. Don’t know why people thought Empty Undeveloped Land meant for an impressive world.
Like there’s something compelling about say an MGS game where you land by parachute like 50 miles from the base bc that’s kind of realistic. But at the end of all that Land there has to be something. |

It never really feels like it’s at scale, it feels miniaturized like a Toon Town theme park attraction. Never mind that you rarely interact with it meaningfully. Elder Ring and BoTW were the best attempts because you are essentially unlocking blocks of land like a puzzle. But I still prefer a tightly crafted experience. FFT feels expansive and epic without being “open”. The day Silent Hill goes open world is the day I quit Gaming imo. A city can have fuck all to do but will still feel like something if it’s connected and you can go on rampages and kill pedestrians. GTA was good this way.
I say there are no Zelda or GTA clones and people are like “what about immortal Fenyx Rising champ?” And I’m like give the game a not retarded title. Then they’re like “Saints Row champ. You’re intellectually dishonest,” like wtf… |

It has a publisher. It probably has a $50m budget unless you can pay French people 10k Euros/yr now. Like wtf there are so many small games and nobody calls them indie. The 2023 Robocop game feels pretty basic. It’s not open World. Your move AAA. It’s Indie bc I say so. |
